The Bay Area Legend Reflects on Friendship and Loss in His Latest Release
Larry June had an impressive 2024, dropping standout singles like Meet Me in Napa, Like a Mack, and Dreams, all culminating in his highly acclaimed album Doing It For Me, which hit streaming platforms in early August. Now, just weeks into the new year, June is back with his first musical offering of 2025—a heartfelt track titled Jan 14th.
The introspective song pays tribute to June’s close friend and fellow artist, OG Maco, who tragically passed away on December 26. Through his signature laid-back flow and reflective lyrics, June opens up about the complexities of friendship and loss.
“I done lost another close friend / You don’t know how it feel to lose a close friend / I wasn’t on good terms with my close friend / But to this day I’m still thankful for my close friend,” raps June, delivering a raw and emotional narrative that resonates deeply with fans.
Accompanying the release is an aesthetically pleasing music video that provides a glimpse into June’s world, shot inside his stylish home. Currently, Jan 14th is exclusively available on YouTube, but according to June’s recent Instagram post, the track will soon be available on major streaming platforms like Apple Music and Spotify. Fans are encouraged to stay tuned for further updates.
