The Six Triple Eight | First Look | Netflix

Kerry Washington leads an inspiring story of resilience in “The Six Triple Eight,” the only all-Black, female battalion of WWII.

Tyler Perry brings an inspiring true story to life in The Six Triple Eight, featuring Kerry Washington as Army Captain Charity Adams. This gripping film focuses on the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion—the only all-Black, all-female unit in the Women’s Army Corps during World War II. The battalion faced enormous challenges, including discrimination and operating in a war-torn country, but they triumphed against all odds.

Known as the “Six Triple Eight,” this battalion was tasked with a daunting mission: sorting through 17 million pieces of undelivered mail for American soldiers stationed overseas. These 855 women were given six months to complete this critical work, but they finished it in less than 90 days, restoring hope and boosting the morale of countless soldiers on the front lines.

Perry both wrote and directed the film, capturing the bravery and determination of these unsung heroes. The movie’s teaser features Washington’s powerful portrayal of Captain Adams, stating, “A lot of people do not want us to succeed. We have the most to prove.” The Six Triple Eight beautifully tells the story of resilience and unity in the face of adversity.

Catch The Six Triple Eight in select theaters on December 6, and on Netflix starting December 20.
