Eddie Murphy Returns as Axel Foley in Long-Awaited ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ Sequel


After four decades, the iconic Axel Foley, played by Eddie Murphy, is set to make a triumphant return in the highly anticipated fourth installment of the “Beverly Hills Cop” series. Netflix teased fans with a first-look photo on Instagram, showcasing Murphy donning Foley’s signature Detroit Lions jacket. The film, titled “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley,” is scheduled for release next year.

Original stars Judge Reinhold, Paul Reiser, John Ashton, and Bronson Pinchot are set to reprise their roles alongside Murphy, with new additions including Kevin Bacon, Taylour Paige, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Gordon-Levitt is expected to bring fresh energy as Foley’s new partner, promising dynamic chemistry on screen, as revealed by the film’s producer Jerry Bruckheimer in an interview with Empire magazine.

While specific plot details and the release date remain undisclosed, Bruckheimer assured fans that the sequel will capture the essence of the beloved franchise, emphasizing the emotional core. “Beverly Hills Cop,” which first premiered in 1984, marked a career-defining role for Murphy and garnered widespread acclaim. The upcoming sequel aims to deliver a blend of humor, action, and heartfelt moments, staying true to the roots that made the franchise a cultural phenomenon.
