Family Releases Heartfelt Posthumous Visuals for Rich Homie Quan’s ‘Song Cry’
Rich Homie Quan’s Posthumous ‘Song Cry’ Video Honored by Atlanta
Atlanta is honoring the late Rich Homie Quan as his family releases the posthumous music video for “Song Cry.” The beloved rapper passed away unexpectedly on September 5 at just 33 years old, leaving the hip-hop community grieving.
The visuals for “Song Cry,” directed by MarcellJB, mix previously filmed scenes of Quan partying and recording in the studio with footage from his recent memorial service. The emotional video begins with messages from Atlanta’s Mayor Andre Dickens and the City Council, who declared September 17 as “Rich Homie Quan Memorial Day” at the “Type of Way” artist’s funeral. The ceremony featured appearances by DC Young Fly and Boosie Badazz, both of whom pay tribute to Quan in the video.
As the music plays, viewers see touching clips from the memorial, along with behind-the-scenes footage of Quan’s interview with Funny Marco. The video concludes with his friends and family celebrating his life, rapping his lyrics at a gathering after his funeral service.
The chorus, “I had to put on dark shades to hide these tears… This lifestyle I live real, I can’t fake this here,” resonates deeply, reflecting the struggles Quan endured. The heartfelt visuals and raw lyrics serve as a powerful reminder of the talent lost too soon.
The Fulton County medical examiner has yet to determine Quan’s official cause of death, pending additional tests. Fans continue to mourn, but the release of “Song Cry” provides a lasting tribute to his impact on Atlanta and beyond. Official Website: http://richhomiequan.com
