Paramount+ has released the official trailer for its upcoming true-crime series, “Happy Face,” offering viewers a chilling glimpse into the life of notorious serial killer Keith Hunter Jesperson, portrayed by Dennis Quaid. The series delves into the harrowing experiences of Jesperson’s daughter, Melissa Moore (played by Annaleigh Ashford), as she grapples with the revelation of her father’s heinous crimes.

Based on true events, “Happy Face” chronicles Jesperson’s killing spree during the 1990s, where he murdered at least eight women across the United States. He earned the moniker “Happy Face Killer” due to the smiley face drawings he included in his taunting letters to authorities and the media. The narrative focuses on Moore’s journey as she uncovers her father’s dark secret at the age of 15 and her subsequent efforts to reconcile with her identity while seeking justice for his victims.
