New iPhone Set to Feature A18 Chip Powered V9 Tech

Apple to unveil its latest iPhone with advanced chip technology at its Sept. 9 event.

Apple is preparing to unveil its new iPhone, powered by the highly anticipated A18 chip, during its fall event on Sept. 9 at its Cupertino headquarters. The A18 chip is developed using Arm’s latest V9 design, which marks a significant leap in smartphone technology. Arm, owned by SoftBank, supplies the essential architecture for most of the world’s smartphones, and Apple is a major partner.

Apple and Arm’s long-standing relationship dates back to 1990 when Apple helped found Arm. Despite a rough start with Apple’s Newton handheld computer in 1993, Arm’s energy-efficient designs have become vital for mobile devices, helping smartphones achieve longer battery life.

The A18 chip, built on Arm’s V9 architecture, is set to boost Apple’s iPhone performance significantly. Arm reported in July that the V9 chip contributes to 50% of smartphone revenue. In September 2022, Apple signed a new deal with Arm extending their collaboration beyond 2040, further cementing their partnership.

This unveiling is expected to showcase not just new iPhones, but also updates to Apple’s other devices and apps.
