Iconic Chicano Rap Duo Releases Vibrant Summer Anthem Video

Lighter Shade of Brown (LSOB), the iconic Chicano rap duo, has just dropped the official music video for their latest single, “Summer Days,” featuring Kara Tenae. This vibrant track, released under Brown Royal Music, captures the essence of summer and showcases LSOB’s enduring influence in the music industry. The video is produced by One Dope Mexican (ODM) and mixed by Sav Did It, both longtime collaborators who have helped shape the group’s unique sound.

LSOB, originally formed in 1990 by Robert “ODM” Gutierrez and Bobby “Don’t Try to Xerox” Ramirez, quickly rose to fame with their debut album, Brown and Proud. Their hit single “On A Sunday Afternoon” peaked at #39 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the charts in New Zealand. The duo became known for their smooth blend of hip-hop and Latin influences, producing other hits like “Latin Activity” and “Homies.”

Throughout the ’90s, LSOB continued to make waves in the music scene. Their sophomore album, Hip Hop Locos, included tracks that were featured in films like Mi Vida Loca and Bulletproof. After signing with Mercury Records, they released Layin’ in the Cut, which made its way onto the Billboard 200 albums chart. Their self-titled fourth album in 1997 featured collaborations with Rappin’ 4-Tay and Dwayne Wiggins from Tony! Toni! Toné! The late ’90s saw the release of their final album, If You Could See Inside Me, under Greenside Records, with guest appearances from Kid Frost, N2Deep, and Baby Bash.

The “Summer Days” music video, filmed and directed by Dstructive Fam, perfectly encapsulates the laid-back vibes of the season. It’s a must-watch for fans and newcomers alike.
