Unveiling Deception, Delight, and Mixed-Up Identities in Powell’s Latest Project
In a cinematic whirlwind, Glen Powell, riding high on the success of “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Anyone But You,” reunites with Richard Linklater for the romantic thriller “Hit Man.” Powell not only stars but co-writes this tale inspired by an unbelievable true story. The trailer unveils his character, Gary Johnson, a reserved professor turned fake hit man, whose encounter with a captivating client (Adria Arjona) sparks a cascade of deception, delight, and mixed-up identities.
The ensemble cast, including Austin Amelio, Retta, Sanjay Rao, Molly Bernard, and Evan Holtzman, garnered positive reviews at the London Film Festival and featured in the Spotlight Premiere at Sundance. Scheduled for a Netflix release on June 7, the film is set to hit the U.S. cinemas earlier, with a UK release yet to be confirmed.
As if Powell’s plate isn’t full enough, he’s set to lead in “Huntington,” a raucous revenge thriller inspired by the 1949 Ealing Comedy “Kind Hearts And Coronets.” Powell plays Becket Redfellow, an heir to a multi-billion-dollar fortune determined to claim what he believes is rightfully his. Additionally, Powell will be seen in the disaster movie “Twisters,” slated for release on July 19, offering audiences a diverse range of performances from the rising star.
