Freaky Friday Reimagined: Curtis and Lohan Tease Sequel After 20 Years

It’s been two decades since the iconic “Freaky Friday” pairing, and fans are buzzing with excitement over the possibility of a long-awaited sequel. Jamie Lee Curtis fueled the anticipation by sharing a captivating selfie with her co-star Lindsay Lohan on Instagram. In the post, Curtis hints at a sequel, expressing hope for another body-switching adventure in the “near future.”

“Too late. YOU GREW UP and SO BEAUTIFULLY!” Curtis exclaimed alongside the stunning snapshot of the duo. “Well, it’s Friday, and the strike is over so hopefully, we can switch places again in the near future!” The Oscar-winner tagged both Lohan and Disney at the end of her note.

The reference is, of course, to their 2003 Disney hit “Freaky Friday,” a comedic tale of a mother and daughter swapping bodies. This remake, based on the 1972 novel by Mary Rodgers, has become a cherished classic.

This isn’t the first time Curtis has teased a potential sequel. In February, a similar post on Instagram had fans crossing their “Freaky fingers.” At an awards event later that month, Curtis hinted at the sequel’s inevitability, though nothing was officially confirmed. In May, she confirmed that both she and Lohan are open to the project.

With the Hollywood strikes behind them, the actors are gearing up for a “Freaky Friday” reunion. As for Lohan, she’s been busy recreating aughts-era magic with fellow “Mean Girls” stars in new Walmart ads, adding to the excitement surrounding potential future projects.
