“Countdown” Series Premiere: Jensen Ackles Leads New Prime Video

Prime Video is set to ignite the summer with its latest original series, Countdown, premiering on June 25, 2025. The crime thriller stars Jensen Ackles, known for his roles in Supernatural and The Boys, as LAPD detective Mark Meachum. Meachum is thrust into a covert task force following the daylight murder of a Department of Homeland Security officer. As the investigation unfolds, the team uncovers a vast conspiracy threatening millions in Los Angeles.

Created by Derek Haas (Chicago Fire, FBI), Countdown boasts a stellar ensemble cast, including Jessica Camacho as DEA Special Agent Amber Oliveras and Eric Dane as Special Agent Nathan Blythe. The series also features Violett Beane, Uli Latukefu, and Elliot Knight, portraying members of the elite task force assembled to avert the impending catastrophe.

The 13-episode series will debut with a three-episode release, followed by weekly installments leading up to the season finale on September 3, 2025.  Filmed on location in Los Angeles, Countdown promises a blend of procedural authenticity and high-stakes suspense. Ackles underwent firearms training to accurately portray his role, ensuring a realistic depiction of law enforcement operations.
