Breaking Barriers: Dushaun Thompson’s Rise in Hollywood

AO Network: Hello Dushaun, thank you for visiting AO Network. Please tell our audience what you do in the entertainment industry and how you first began.

Dushaun: I’m an actor, artist, and creative.

AO Network: We see you were recently featured dancing in the NEW Scar Lip “No Statements” Music Video. Tell us how you got involved with Scar Lip and her project and how has that helped you advance your career as an actor/entertainer as of late?

Dushaun: I was super excited to work on this project because Fatima was the choreographer and creative director. It was awesome working with Scar Lip. She was super down to earth, and I also chopped it up with Swizz Beats.

AO Network: What was your last acting gig? What’s the audition process like and how do you prepare for a role?

Dushaun: A film with The Weeknd and Jenna Ortega shot by A24 Films. I had to send in a self-tape with me doing some of my best contortionist moves. I start off with prayer to decide if I should take the role or not. If I feel it’s a good fit, I put in the work needed based on the project.

AO Network: How has the Hollywood strike affected you landing any major roles in film and television?

Dushaun: The strike has shut down most of everything for TV and Film, but I’ve been blessed and fortunate to have booked some Major projects during the strike.

AO Network: Do you have any optimism about this strike making any forward progress for actors and what does it all mean for actors like yourself?

Dushaun: I feel that the strike has really opened up many creatives’ eyes. The strike has shown many actors that it’s important not to wait for anyone to make your dreams come true, be independent if you have the will to do so, and create your own art.

AO Network: Who inspires you to continue on your journey in Hollywood?

Dushaun: My family inspires me all the time, and every time I think about the love they have given me, it makes me want to go harder and harder.

AO Network: How did you first get into Hollywood, and what was going through your mind?

Dushaun: I always had a passion for the arts. I wanted to show the world my gifts and be a part of film and television, so coming to Hollywood was the perfect move. Now I truly get the opportunity to share my light and love with the industry.

AO Network: What advice can you give to someone who wants to break into the film/television industry with no prior experience?

Dushaun: To always have your why. And stand true to your why, and if something doesn’t agree with it, don’t be associated with it.
