Ariana Grande Drops Star-Studded Music Video “The Boy Is Mine”

Ariana Grande Channels Catwoman in New Music Video Featuring Brandy, Monica, and Penn Badgley

Ariana Grande has released a star-studded music video for her new single “The Boy Is Mine” from her album “Eternal Sunshine.” Directed by Christian Breslauer, the video features surprise cameos from Brandy, Monica, and “You” actor Penn Badgley. Grande transforms into Catwoman, infiltrating a Gotham-esque city to tackle a rat infestation engineered by Badgley’s mayor character. The storyline adds a cinematic twist to the original 1998 hit by Brandy and Monica, which inspired Grande’s track.

The video opens with Brandy and Monica as news anchors introducing the mayor, who proposes using stray cats to solve the city’s rat problem. Grande’s character then devises a plan to seduce and outsmart the mayor, leading to a dramatic confrontation. This playful yet intense narrative captures the essence of a “bad girl anthem,” a concept Grande has always wanted to explore.

Grande teased the video on social media before its release, generating buzz with clips hinting at Badgley’s involvement. The day before the premiere, she performed “The Boy Is Mine” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, expressing her admiration for Badgley. This marks the third single from “Eternal Sunshine” to receive a music video, following “Yes, And?” and “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love).”

Grande’s “Eternal Sunshine” album, which dropped in March, showcases her versatile talent and creativity. With its engaging visuals and star-studded cast, “The Boy Is Mine” is poised to be another hit, continuing Grande’s streak of chart-topping successes.
