An Indie Filmmaker Breaking Barriers and Connecting Cultures
Meet Junayed Alavi, an indie filmmaker from Rampurhat, a small town in West Bengal, India. Without the privilege of attending a film school, Junayed has carved an extraordinary path from his humble beginnings to making waves in Hollywood. His remarkable journey is a testament to passion, perseverance, and the power of storytelling.
The Rise of an Indie Visionary
Junayed’s filmmaking journey began in the unlikeliest of places. Driven by an unyielding passion for cinema, he independently produced short films and web series, earning accolades from international film festivals and industry professionals. Over time, he transformed Rampurhat into a budding film hub, proving that talent knows no geographical boundaries.
One of Junayed’s major milestones was his horror short film, “Hunger”, which caught the attention of none other than Peter Cameron, Writer and Producer of Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight and Werewolf by Night. Cameron not only executive produced the project but also helped amplify its global reach. Hunger has been nominated for prestigious international festivals, including the First Cut Youth International Film Festival, Ireland 2023, and Festival del Cinema di Cefalu, Italy.
Bridging Bengal and Hollywood
Junayed’s journey isn’t just about filmmaking; it’s about fostering connections. He is the creator and host of “Late Night Show with Alavi”, India’s only podcast featuring Hollywood A-listers who share their experiences to inspire the next generation of filmmakers. The show has welcomed a stellar lineup of guests, including:

His latest venture, a horror anthology titled “Terror Tales”, is set to be produced by Ken Ochiai, director of Vietnamese blockbuster Saigon Bodyguards and Daddy Issues.
His achievements have already earned him recognition in major platforms like Deadline, No Film School, The Telegraph, and Film Central Magazine, and his reputation continues to grow.
A Message of Inspiration
