Bad Boys: Ride or Die Dominates with $104M Debut

“Bad Boys: Ride or Die” rockets to a $104.6 million global debut, marking a triumphant return for Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. The latest installment in Sony’s popular buddy cop series, “Bad Boys: Ride or Die,” has achieved a remarkable global debut, amassing $104.6 million in its opening weekend. This fourth film in the series stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, whose return has been eagerly anticipated by fans. Despite the controversy surrounding Smith since the 2022 Oscars, audiences have embraced the film, which has seen strong international performance with $48.6 million outside North America. Produced on a budget of $100 million, “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” is positioned for a successful run. While it’s uncertain if it will surpass the franchise’s highest-grossing installment, “Bad Boys for Life,” which earned $426 million globally, the film is off to a promising start. Directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, it follows detectives Mike and Marcus as they navigate corruption within the Miami Police Department, eventually becoming fugitives themselves. The movie also sees Smith and Jerry Bruckheimer returning as producers. In the domestic market, “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” led the box office with $56 million. Internationally, the film performed exceptionally well in the UK, grossing $4.9 million, followed by Mexico with $4.2 million, and both Saudi Arabia and Germany each contributing $3.7 million. Key markets like Italy, Japan, and China are still to release the film, which could significantly increase its earnings. The combination of action, comedy, and nostalgia in “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” continues to resonate with audiences worldwide. Smith and Lawrence’s dynamic partnership remains a compelling draw, ensuring the franchise’s ongoing success.
